Who I Am: I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Karst Research Group in the Department of Geology at the University of South Florida. My research interests include karst geomorphology, carbonate platforms, and paleoclimates. My dissertation involves several aspects of karst research in the Floridan Aquifer of West Central Florida. For example, I am interested in the relationship between platform archetecture, permeability and conduit development. To investigate this, I am core- sampling cave wall profiles in an attempt to describe lateral and vertical variations in permeabilty. A second aspect of my work is relating discharge from first-magnitude springs in Florida and elsewhere in the world to internal aquifer characteristics such as storage, and transmissivity. Our goal is to provide a conceptual basis for ongoing numerical modeling. |

Currently I am engaged in several research projects in the United States and elsewhere. These projects include: Karst management studies in Kentucky. Exploration and study of Bahamian caves Petrography of Cretaceous breccias of Belize. Investigations of Cuban karst. |
